My updated goals for 2016

My updated goals for 2016 | robowecop

At the end of 2015 I wrote a blog post where I looked back at all my blog goals and life goals from 2015, reflected on them and set new ones for 2016.

A couple of days ago I noticed I was nearing 5k on Instagram and realised that was my end of 2016 goal. And it’s only June. So seeing as I was WAY off the mark with that one, I figured I’d take a look at my 2016 goals and change them up a bit now we’re almost halfway through the year.

So I’m going to run you through what my goals were and whether I need to change them.

Original goal: 2,000 on Bloglovin by my blog’s 2nd birthday in April.

Update: I DID THIS! I actually did this one and I’m so super proud! I honestly didn’t think I would, but I somehow managed to get around 500 BL followers in less than 4 months. BOOM.

Original goal: 3,000 on Bloglovin by the end of 2016.

Update: Idk guys I kind of feel like I could do this one. I’m currently almost on 2.2k and if I try really hard (and stop being such a blogging slack-arse) I can do this. I’m gonna keep this one the same.

Original goal: 2,000 subscribers on YouTube by the end of the year.

Update: I’m not sure about this one. I’m currently almost on 1.1k and there’s only 6 months left of the year. Even if my follower rate shoots up and I get 100 subscribers a month I’ll still only have 1.7k. I think I’m going to lower this one to 1.5k because any more than that relies on me posting more than just my weekly vlogs and LOL we all know how shit I am at regular “main channel” videos…

Original goal: 5,000 followers on Instagram.

Update: So I’m currently on 4.6k+ followers. I THINK I might hit 5k before December. Fingers crossed. (lol) Seriously though, enough of the sarcasm – I think I’m going to set my new goal as 8k. 10k feels like I’d be pushing it a little far, 7k seems a little easy. So 8k. Yeah. I think that’s a good one.

Original goal: 9,000 on Twitter.

Update: I’m currently on 7.6k+ and according to my bae, Twitter Analytics, I gain about 500-700 followers a month depending on how active I am. So, for arguments sake let’s say a solid 600 followers a month. 6 months left of the year. That means I should gain an extra 3,600 followers this year, bringing me to about 11,200 followers by 2017. So I’m going to raise my goal to 12k because CHALLENGE.

Original goal: 1,000 likes on Facebook.

Update: LOL. Nah. 600 would be a frigging miracle right about now.

They were all the numerical goals that I set. I think in general I’m doing pretty well, ngl. I also made some personal goals like ‘get back to posting daily’ (lol that went well…), ‘decide what type of blogger I want to be’ (I did actually do that one. And you can read about it here), and ‘stop giving a shit’ (which I think I have also done so yay for me – someone get me a celebratory G&T).

So, I’m happy. I’m really happy with all of that. Here’s to the next 6 months. I can’t decide whether I want them to go quickly because I don’t think I can handle any more iconic celebrities dying in one year, OR if I want it to slow the hell down because the speed at which 2016 is going by is genuinely terrifying.

It’s pretty cool that you reached so many of your goals. At this point I don’t personally set blogging goals because the competitiveness turns pretty toxic fast. It’s good to hear goals work for others, though! When it comes to my blog I’m just trying to relax and enjoy posting content without stressing about who (or how large) my audience is.

Good luck for the rest of the year and congrats on all the goals you’ve achieved!! I set myself some high targets that felt fine in January but now it’s basically July I’m panicking a bit! But they’re not the end of the world and will just give me a better idea for next year!
I hope you manage to hit your goals!

Good luck with these goals. I have only set myself 5000 for insta (which I’m just over 500 away from) and 6K on Twitter, which I’m 100 away from. Maybe I didn’t realise that I could actually be good and hit those numbers.

It’s so clever to review your goals like this! Revising and revisiting what you wanted from the year is a definite way to get the most out of your goals, I always forget mine. x
