Okay let’s address the elephant in the room, shall we? I haven’t blogged in over a month. 39 days, to be precise. It’s been a while since I’ve taken such a long break unintentionally, but my GOD I think I needed it.
Anyway, I guess I better fill you in.
The last month has been hectic. March was absolutely rammed full with things, from being stuck in the house for a few days because of the snow to life admin to weddings to blog events, it felt like I didn’t have a single second to breathe. And I’m not about that life – I need my down time to feel at all sane.
I’d planned on April being a lot slower and, although there haven’t been as many plans so far, it’s been stressful to say the least. Stressful, exciting, busy, expensive and emotional. And why? Well, if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you’ll probably have already seen but…
I GOT A NEW JOB!
As of early-mid May I’m going to be joining the marketing team for my all-time favourite restaurant chain, Red’s True Barbecue, and I’m not exaggerating when I say this is literally my dream job. I am SO excited I can’t even put it into words.
It may mean that content remains a little slow around these parts for the next few weeks whilst I plan and adjust, but I’m hoping nothing is affected too much. And it will be worth it because, guys, this position is honestly just so perfect for me.
And on the news of adult-y things like finding new jobs, I also bought a car! Because of where Red’s HQ is, it’s a bit of a nightmare to get there via public transport from where I live, but it’s only a ~25 minute drive. I passed my driving test when I was 18 and had a 1999/2000 reg Vauxhaull Corsa for about a year when I first passed. That car was a DREAM and, as fate should have it, I stumbled upon a great deal on a 2015 Corsa over the weekend, was approved for a finance deal and I’m picking it up today! (I will no doubt be Instagram Story-documenting it).
I’m so excited, because I haven’t owned a car in 6/7 years. My current job is only a 5 minute walk from our flat, so I’ve not really had a need for one until now. I’m even excited for little things like being able to drive to Aldi, or being able to take ourselves off for a day/weekend without having to pre-book trains etc.
Lol gonna be sick from all the ~adulting~.
It’s okay, though, because to balance out all the adulting I had a little hair change and dyed it purple! (Take a look at how amazing it is here). If you don’t know already, throughout 2018 I’m working closely with Matrix Haircare and a salon local to me and I’m having so much fun with it. And, for anyone interested, my hairdresser used the Matrix ColorSync Watercolors – the root area was ‘Berry Violet’ mixed with ‘Clear’ and ‘Silver Grey’ and through the ends she also mixed in a bit of ‘Rose Gold’. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
So, in short, life is excellent. Our flat is coming together and looking how we want it to look, I bought a car, I’ve landed what could possibly be my dream job, I have purple hair and I am SO HAPPY.
Here’s to new chapters! <3
