You’ve got to treat yourself

Sometimes I feel like the world is very busy. And I know for a fact it’s not just me that feels this way – stuff just gets in the way sometimes, doesn’t it?

I fill my days with blogging, job applications, the occasional gym session (that should be more frequent lol yolo). But as far as my life is concerned, I shouldn’t be busier than I was a few months ago when I was doing all of the above AND working a 9-5 office job. And yet I still don’t seem to have a second to spare??

I personally think it’s super important to treat yourself every now and then. For example, if Joe’s house had a bath (and GOD you have no idea how much I wish it did), I’d be having a long soak every night because it’s essential for my sanity that I have time to myself and treat myself.

What I’m trying to say is life gets in the way, we get stuck in ruts and we forget how important a little self care is. A hot bubble bath, a no-phones movie night, a nail painting session, a pamper evening with a good face mask or even something a little more luxurious like a facial, a massage or treating yourself to that high end lipstick you’ve had your eye on for months.

Just before Christmas (I know, it was ages ago, BAD BLOGGER) I went to the recently opened BeautyBAR by Clarins. It’s hidden away behind the Clarins beauty counter at the John Lewis store in the Victoria Gate shopping centre and until an email from Clarins landed in my inbox, I had no idea it was there, let alone what they offered.

The BeautyBAR is basically the best thing since sliced bread when it comes to treating yourself. They offer turbocharged, beauty-boosting treatments in a super relaxed environment but they only take 30 minutes. THIRTY MINUTES. And what’s even better? They only cost £25.

They have 8 different treatments to choose from and I went with the Get Glowing facial. According to Clarins, it’s “a made to measure facial for fatigued faces. Expert circulation boosting massage with an optional application of our superb self tan.” I didn’t go with the fake tan because with it being winter, I’d have come away with an orange face to contrast my pasty white bod. Sexy.

But apart from that, it was amazing. I felt relaxed, I totally forgot I was in the middle of a department store and my skin was glowing for weeks afterwards. I got some A+ skincare advice as well, so I’ve been able to continue the glow by switching up the type of products I used in my skincare routine. I couldn’t recommend the service enough! With it only being 30 minutes, you could even fit it in your lunch break and for only £25 you really can’t go wrong.

I think something like this existing is exactly what we need for when we’re getting down on ourselves, feeling like life is getting in the way and we deserve a treat. An inexpensive way to feel like you’re treating yourself to something really luxurious, for when a bubble bath and a nail painting sesh just won’t cut it.

At the end of the day, we all need to remember how important it is to look after ourselves. Especially to look after ourselves mentally. Self care is a term that gets thrown around a lot lately, and I think because of this people often forget about it. But when life gets busy, when you get overwhelmed or stuck in a rut, or ideally before it gets to that point, you’ve got to treat yourself.

I couldn’t agree more – one of my goals for this month is to practice self-care regularly. For me, that usually means switching off my phone and having a good old reading session; blog posts, magazines, a book. Or a long hot soak in the tub with a Lush bath bomb. This BeautyBAR sounds like a really good idea! x x

Absolutely agree that you have to just give yourself some ‘me time’ – it’s important not to just be all about the work and filling your day with a never ending list of to dos… Frankie x

You definitely have to get the work/treat balance right! This sounds sooo good! I’d love to try a Get Glowing Facial!

I agree it’s essential to treat yourself sometimes though I definitely do it way more than my bank balance would like!

A little self-indulgence is so important now and again! For me, this means a pamper night with lots of lovely smelling goodies and candles burning. xx
