I love that cocktails are so popular now. Do you even remember a few years ago when you could only really get them in actual ~cocktail bars~? And now every Tom, Dick and Harry sells them it’s like a dream come true.
And also, how great is it that they’re all just so GOOD? Gone are the days of your cocktail menu only having 5 basic choices, having to choose between a mojito, a cosmo or daiquiri every single time. Now, cocktail menus are basically the periodic table. It’s all scientific and complicated and fun in the absolute best way imaginable.
I really love how fantastic the cocktail/bar scene is in Leeds. Being born in Leeds and only moving away for uni, I’m aware I’m slightly biased when talking about my favourite city. But I’m really not lying when I say how absolutely incred the bar scene actually is, which is why I love events like The Cocktail Experience – made to show off the talent around the area.
If you were thinking about buying tickets to The Cocktail Experience (it’s on the 3rd March at Aspire in Leeds, just FYI), then today’s post is the one for you because last week I got very, very tipsy trying all the cocktails at the preview event. Just for you guys. (I know, I’m so generous and thoughtful.)
In case you don’t already know what The Cocktail Experience is, it’s a bunch of Leeds’ finest bars all in one place, making signature cocktails for you to enjoy in one big room. It’s pretty great, to be honest, and if you’re free on 3rd March you should definitely consider picking up a ticket.
The preview night was like a small version of the main event and it was still fantastic. Some of Leeds’ classic institutions next to bars that are yet to open their doors, it was great to see so much imagination and talent all in one room. (And they sure tasted good, too.)
If you’re heading to the main event, my top must visit bars are Jake’s Bar, Be At One, Chida Cantina, Pintura and Vice & Virtue for sure. Jake’s Bar’s fruity Fifty Pounds Gin based cocktail was a particular favourite of mine, alongside Chida Cantina’s Don Julio cocktail and Vice & Virtue’s luxurious whiskey and chocolate drink.
You can buy tickets to The Cocktail Experience here! And if you’re coming, make sure you come say hi if you see me!
