Essential tech accessories for students

University is one of those times where it’s acceptable to buy loads of bits, just because you can. I know I always used to use the excuse of being a student for needing things, especially if student discount was involved. Seeing as a lot of you will be heading to University (or back to University) in the next couple of weeks, I thought I’d tailor this post to you. Like you’d need an excuse for a cheeky shopping spree…

(That said, this post is also useful for anyone looking for some great tech accessories in general. Venom Communications have teamed up with Happy Jackson to produce a great range of tech accessories that you need to add to your to-buy list. Bright coloured, fun, practical and budget friendly – what more could you ask for??)

Portable power bank

I don’t know what I’d do without my portable power bank (I say that like I only have one when I actually have 5 because I keep losing the cables and having to buy more). I have an iPhone 6S and the battery is okay, but as soon as I’ve been using it for longer than a couple of hours, it needs a charge. Ideal for train journeys home and long stints in the library when there aren’t any plugs free. Or, the most likely situation, when you’re just too lazy to go get your charger.

Spare cables and cable tidies

Even with a portable power bank, you’ll obviously need actual cables. Whether that’s to plug into the wall, or plug into the power bank itself. I always have a couple of spares lying about, and if they come with a cable tidy like this one, it’s a real bonus because they’re less likely to get damaged. (Or tangled!)

When the above (AKA, listening to music out loud) isn’t possible, you’ll need some earphones/headphones. If they come with a cute carry case like these ones, it’s an extra bonus. No wasted time untangling them after they’ve been sat at the bottom of your bag for a few days!

USB stick

BACK. UP. YOUR. FILES. I learned this the hard way in the past, but god damn if you only do one thing make sure it’s backing up your files. Ideally on 2 USB sticks, the cloud and an external hard drive. USB sticks are especially great for their portability purposes – I keep one on my keys at all times. That and this Happy Jackson one is cute as heck.

A bluetooth speaker

Because who wants an actual plug-in speaker nowadays? A bluetooth speaker has many uses – being the soundtrack to pre-drinks, or just to play something to keep you sane during late night essay writing sessions. As long as you don’t wake up your neighbours, of course. If you can nab yourself a little one like this Happy Jackson one, bonus points for portability! Hello BBQs in the park with actual music!

Cute phone case

Now I don’t know if this is technically an essential, unless it’s a phone case that actually protects rather than just looking pretty. But, that said, I would be lost without one. It makes my phone feel less exposed, whether it actually protects or not. And if you can get something that looks pretty like this ‘blah blah blah’ phone case as well, that’s just a win-win.

Those tech accessories are so cute! I just love how colorful they all are. I really need to get a portable charger because I’m always on low phone battery.

These are all so cute and I 100% agree that these are essentials! A bluetooth speaker would be top of my list to take to uni if I was starting over.

All their products are so cool – I love the bright colours! I could quite easily buy everything here but I don’t think my bank account would approve haha
