Man oh man I didn’t expect to miss Leeds Festival SO much this year. I don’t know what it is about Leeds Fest, maybe that we live so close and have been attending for so many years, but it will always have a special place in my heart. Even when the lineup isn’t my cup of tea, I always end up going and having a great weekend.
This weekend was probably my favourite ever.
(Not gonna lie, the weather helped.)
One thing I noticed about the festival this year was how much they’d improved since last year’s slight disaster. Because last year was so wet, it did feel worse than it actually was. But this year, we arrived to proper man-made, well lit pathways (rather than just hills the rain turns to mudslides). I also noticed more staff and it was generally more organised. Any problem I had last year had been resolved and more this year, so well done to the Leeds Fest crew!
In all honesty, the lineup wasn’t the best for me. (I felt VERY old, and I’m only 24…) But we managed to fill our weekend quite nicely! Between watching bands and chilling in the guest/press area, it was an absolute dream.
Highlights of the weekend came from Billy Talent’s incredible headline set – how can a band get better and better every time I see them?? Fizzy Blood absolutely smashed their set and drew a really impressive crowd. (Also, big up to the Fizzy Blood lads for letting me use their track, January Sun, in my vlog from the festival!)
I never thought I’d actually see Breaking Benjamin, so watching them made all the dreams of my 15 year old self come true! They were incredible, and it was so great to see such a large crowd singing along.
Another couple of stand-out sets came from 2 bands we only discovered recently – Oh Wonder and Boston Manor. Oh Wonder have this gorgeous sound because of the male and female vocals and Boston Manor have that nostalgic pop-punk sound that I just adore.
I’m still not over how amazing the weather was. We’ve had a completely dry, sunny year for festivals this year and I think my li’l heart is gonna break when it inevitably rains again next year. Genuinely don’t know how I’m going to cope with it…
All-in-all we had the BEST weekend. I’m an Autumn gal at heart, but this time of year is always a little bittersweet when I have to bid farewell to my beloved festival season. Until next year, Leeds Fest! I’ll miss u <3
(Just FYI, you can also see what I wore at Leeds Fest here!)
