As soon as we found out we were moving, my first thought was how I couldn’t wait to decorate it with lots of little things that inject some of our personalities.
Joe and I are incredibly similar, both in our personalities and in our taste. So, decorating was never going to be anything we’d clash over.
A little while ago, Desenio got in contact and asked if they could send us some prints for our new home and I was so excited! They have such a great selection – there really is something for every taste and it’s so easy to find prints that fit your personality.
So, here’s a run-down of what we picked up, where we’re putting them and what they mean to us.
First up, our bedroom.
We have this gorgeous little fireplace in our bedroom and it’s one of my favourite features. It’s only small, and it doesn’t work, but we knew instantly we wanted to make the most of the shelf space it gave us and sit some prints on it.
We went for a giant poster showing the phases of the moon, because I am obsessed with all things space and because I find the moon calming. And, to add a little colour, we got a small print of a cheese plant. I have a habit of killing plants, so at least this one will always stay alive and green…
We actually want some more pieces in the lounge, but are waiting until we choose some more furniture pieces.
For now, we are displaying one of my favourite prints from our Desenio haul – a map of Leeds.
Leeds will always hold a special place in both our hearts. Not only because we’re both born and live here, but because we had our first few dates in Leeds city centre. We currently live a little way out of the city, so it’s nice to bring some of it to the flat. My favourite city for ever and ever <3
The spare room
So, our spare room is currently a dumping ground of unpacked boxes and things that don’t yet have a place. Hence why these prints are currently sat on the floor. But, when they do go up, I’ll be sure to show you some photos!
We got a selection of prints for our spare room, but they all fit an underlying theme.
We wanted to keep the lounge and the bedroom quite subtle. Nothing too in-your-face, nothing too over the top.
With the spare room, however, we wanted a more fun feel. The spare room will eventually be our office (complete with a day bed of some sort, of course) and we wanted to give it a more colourful vibe to fit with that.
We chose the lemon for a couple of reasons, the first being we loved the illustration style. The second being we have an in-joke about a lemon. Neither of us can remember where/how it started, but we have a weird little in-joke about calling one of our possible future children ‘Lemon Burrows’. Don’t ask. But it brought some of our relationship into the flat, and it makes us laugh whenever we see it.
Let me know if you liked this little insight into our flat, and if you’d like to see more interior content!
And if you’re looking for any posters and prints for your home, definitely check out Desenio.
